Machine head coffee

Is there anything better than getting a call from an old friend asking if you want to make something good together? Not really! That is one reason why we are so proud of this project for Machine Head Coffee, owned and operated in our hometown, Austin, Texas.

Working alongside fellow Austinites, brand designer Bobby Dixon and sign painter Andrew Manning, we created this hard-to-miss, faux neon sign for Nolan Green, owner of Machine Head Coffee. Bobby had initially imagined a neon sign for the exterior blade sign but was concerned about maintenance and potential damage. We took his initial design and with a little “good work magic” we married durability and beauty. We joined the spirit of neon with the incredible dependability of routed out push-through acrylic, and the low power and virtually no maintenance LED’s.

For Nolan, a small business owner, this was a win win. The hand painted graphics on the storefront glass and on the wall done by Andrew uplevels the entire experience. The outcome was a beautiful beacon that proudly stands by the values of Machine Head, Austin, and Studio Dzo’s mission of #dogoodwork.

The sign is gorgeous, and I couldn’t be happier with the personal touch provided by the team at Studio Dzo. My designer, Bobby Dixon, suggested bringing Studio Dzo into the mix — it proved to be a solid recommendation.
