boys & girls clubs of the austin area

Over the years American Campus Communities has been an amazing partner to work with. When they paired us with another one of our favorite architects, STG, we knew that the new $14 million, 32,000 square-foot home for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area would be an amazing space for young people of all ages.

During our initial meetings with STG, they leaned heavily on us to identify opportunities to elevate the experience with creative on-brand solutions for all of the signage required for a facility like this. In addition to ADA signage, directionals, classroom and office identifiers, drive-up wall, and a full-color digital message center exterior pole sign, there was the challenge of creatively showcasing the many donors that generously gave to the project, while considering the space, the audience, and the budget.

One opportunity that we saw very early on was the hexagonal reception lattice wall designed and fabricated by Dovetail. The negative spaces made for the perfect opportunity to create a stained glass effect with transparent one-inch thick acrylic awards recognizing the more generous donors to the project.

Coordinating directly with the Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area, we designed, fabricated and installed everything needed to capture the spirit of the space. Gigantic vibrant wall and window graphics can be found in every classroom. Bold and spirited fractaled images pair with bright colors and intriguing visual texture welcome students at every turn.

This brand new campus is a haven for young people in the Austin area, a place where they are free to learn, grow, and play. This is truly an example of “Good Work for Good people”. We are honored to have been part of such an amazing project that is making such a difference in so many lives.

Studio Dzo was an excellent partner in developing signage and graphics for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Austin Area. They showed patience in working through multiple revisions and ultimately delivered an exciting package that really complemented the overall building design. The process was fun and I look forward to working with their team again.
