Good Work: East Meets Best!

— Jersey girl finds new home and amazing team in Austin. —

As a new Austinite, I felt determined to network and immerse myself in opportunities that would allow me to grow and become my best self creatively and professionally. I found that exactly with Studio Dzo. Starting a new job right after moving is intimidating, but I knew that it was the best way to effectively challenge myself professionally and emotionally.

I wasn’t (and am still not) used to how sincerely genuine and sweet people are down here…

Working with Studio Dzo for the past month has positively amplified my journey as a newcomer to Austin; exploring the vibrant spaces of our partners in person, meeting new people, and getting a true sense of how down to earth and cool Austinites really are has made for an honestly extremely fun transition into this new chapter! As an East Coast Native, I wasn’t (and am still not) used to how sincerely genuine and sweet people are down here… and the team at Studio Dzo is a prime example of that good nature.

Russell and Elizabeth create a culture among our team that cultivates effective communication, opportunities for growth personally and on a professional basis, honest hard work and motivation,  and an overall welcoming and encouraging environment for a newcomer. I feel empowered working at Studio Dzo. Coming from a “churn-and-burn” sales position prior to this, I never knew the value of having an employer that genuinely cares for your well being, and how that alone has a massive effect on the work you’re putting out. The way that Russell and Elizabeth are able to lead by example on a daily basis, in such an honest and heartfelt way encourages a dedicated work ethic in every team member at Studio Dzo.

Working from home isn’t always as easy as it sounds, and since moving to a fully remote setting, they know what’s necessary to make an at-home setting an effective working environment for their employees. Well equipped with a Macbook, Google Pixel, and a 48” wide sit/stand desk that adjusts with just the click of a button, I have been able to get my work done, and enjoy doing it. Not to mention the fact that as an employee, I receive a subscription to Headspace, an app geared around guided meditations to improve mental health. Having an employer validate the necessity of taking care of your mental health is extremely rare, and having the opportunity to use Headspace daily thanks to Studio Dzo is beyond amazing. I was also welcomed to the team with a big box of Studio Dzo swag including dozens of stickers, pins, t-shirts, and koozies!

From my first day at Studio Dzo, I recognized that Russell and Elizabeth had created a well-founded balance between light-hearted conversation and genuine hard work. They are sure to always take the time to ask us how we are, what’s new in our lives, and show genuine interest in us as employees. I immediately felt welcome joining the Dzo team because of how truly personable everyone is on a daily basis. It made being the new person that much easier.

Through this openness from the team, effective and authentic communication flows seamlessly within our environment. The empowerment that comes from knowing your bosses genuinely care about you, and the work you do, makes the work itself worth it. You feel like you’re really making a difference, and WANT to come to work every day. My experience with Studio Dzo has been exactly that, and I truly love doing good work for good people with these good people!
